Los Angeles Performance Practice and the Bootleg Theater will produce and present the third annual Live Arts Exchange (LAX) Festival, a performance series featuring local artists in contemporary theater, dance, music, and cross-genre performance, October 15 through 25, 2015. Events and performances will take place at the Bootleg Theater on Beverly Blvd, and at Automata in Chinatown on Chung King Ct.
Live Arts Exchange (LAX) creates space for and draws attention to contemporary performance emerging out of Los Angeles. This home-grown performance series showcases some of the most innovative artists and independent companies in LA, creates social events that encourage cross-genre hangouts, and will play an important role in the elevation of Los Angeles performance work within national and international networks. The 2015 LAX Festival spans 11 days and will feature performances from RYAT, Jodie Landau with wildUp, Genevieve Carson, Zoe Aja Moore, Greg Wohead, Mothership LA and Keith Skretch, Mireya Lucio and Sallie Merkel, Grand Lady Dance House, and Timur & The Dime Museum. Los Angeles Performance Practice (LAPP) is a producing organization and artists’ network dedicated to supporting Los Angeles’ unique contemporary performance community. Founded by Miranda Wright in 2010 and co-directed by Rachel Scandling, it is comprised of independent artists who create groundbreaking theatrical experiences through innovative approaches to collaboration, technology, and social engagement. LAPP is a 2015 Ovation Award nominee for The Day Shall Declare It, produced with theater company Wilderness in spring 2015.
The Bootleg Theater is a year-round inclusive art space for original, boundary-defying live theater and performance born from the diverse cultural and artistic landscape of Los Angeles. Bootleg supports and collaborates with the best of established and emerging theater artists to create daring multi-disciplinary live experiences that are striking, contemporary and non-traditional.
