Celebration, Florida runs through October 24th at the Bootleg Theatre.
Each night there are new set of performers. They have never met. They have not seen the script. They step on stage, strap on earbuds and have no other choice but to dive right in. Guided by the voice of the piece’s creator, Greg Wohead, these actors are taken through an intimate series of moments, concocting a chemistry that is unique to each instance. A personal yet universal exploration of the concept of surrogacy, the work is shrouded in the surreal setting of Disney’s odd dream-town: Celebration, Florida.
In order to gain more insight into the artist behind this new work, we decided to stick with the theme and submit our questions in the form of audio recordings. We asked him to record himself responding to these questions for the first time:
Greg Wohead is a writer, performer and theatre-maker originally hailing from Texas. After studying in England, Greg became an artistic associate at The Yard in London. He has presented work around the world at venues including Battersea Arts Center, Bristol Old Vic Ferment, MC (Amsterdam), Orchard Project (New York), MAKE (Ireland), Wales Millennium Centre and Forest Fringe. This is his Los Angeles debut.
