As part of a two-week D+Residency, first time collaborators Latin folk band Cuñao and puppeteer Beth Peterson host an evening of puppetry, story-sharing and song. Peterson’s shadow puppets illuminate images from Cuñao’s song “Niños del Desierto,” which brings attention to the experiences of children who cross the U.S. border on their own in hopes of reaching a family member or relative once they reach the other side. Featuring live music, in-process excerpts, and sharing of immigtation stories from ongoing research for the development of their project.
